EMERGENCY IN UKRAINE: Russian forces are systematically attacking energy infrastructure across the country. Power cuts are frequent, and in many homes it is barely warmer than on the freezing winter streets. Temperatures remain extremely low, dropping to as much as –20°C in some regions.

Many people are forced to flee their homes under the constant threat of attacks. The already dire situation is made even worse by the severe cold.

Evacuation centres provide vital support to people fleeing the war

There are currently 21 evacuation centres operating in Ukraine. These centres offer comprehensive support, including essential items, medical and psychological assistance, as well as legal and social support. At the Dnipro evacuation centre, the Estonian Refugee Council also supports people who have fled the war by providing cash-based humanitarian assistance to help cover basic needs in crisis situations.

However, due to extreme sub-zero temperatures and intensified attacks, evacuation centres and temporary accommodation for internally displaced people are facing ongoing challenges with heating and energy supply.

The Estonian Refugee Council is raising funds to purchase generators, fuel, and other essential supplies for evacuation centres in the Dnipro, Kharkiv, and Zaporizhzhia regions, so that work can continue and people fleeing the war can receive the support they need at critical moments.

Please help the people of Ukraine who face air attacks and severe cold every day — let’s keep evacuation centres warm and operational.

Donate and help Ukrainians. Regular donations have an even greater impact.
