How does your donation help?

During the national donation day on November 29, 2022 we raised 11093,07 euros (incl Swedbank's leverage), which allowed us in 2023 to offer training courses to 184 youth workers, trainers/coaches and hobby education education workers to help support thousands of youths. We are very grateful to all the contributors!

Now, with your help, we wish to teach mental health first aid skills to the people who could be important and trustworthy adults for children and youths – someone they could share their mental health difficulties with. For a young person, the presence of an adult who notices their difficulties and supports them at the right time affects how quickly they can find adequate professional help. More often than not, it could save their lives.

The goal of the mental health first aid training course is to provide youth workers, trainers/coaches and hobby education workers with the necessary skills to identify mental health problems and provide first aid. It also helps them improve their self-confidence when it comes to helping youths with their mental health problems and lessening mental health stigmatisation in general.

Mental health first aid is a simple, five step support system that can be given to anyone who may need help with their mental health concerns. It is a support system for helping a person who is developing a mental health issue, whose mental health issue is worsening or who is going through a mental health crisis. First aid does not replace professional help, but by training mental health first aid practitioners we can increase the amount of people who can help take the first steps towards recovery and sometimes even save a life. Mental health first aid is a learnable skill that is manageable for anyone who has completed the training course.

Based on our current experience, each person who has completed our mental health first aid training course will eventually give mental health first aid to at least three other people.

The fee for one participant is 73 €.

We can organise one mental health first aid training course when

  • 110 people donate 10 € each,
  • 44 people donate 25 € each or
  • 22 people donate 50 € each.

We look for support for our donation drive so that Estonian youth workers, trainers/coaches and hobby education workers could take part of the course. We wish to collect donations for 10 courses, that is 11 000 €.
