In 2026, we wish to continue and expand our nationwide network of Mental Health Cafés together with you. These cafés provide much-needed first-line support to people who need space to reflect on and share their mental health concerns. On the last Saturday of each month, we welcome you to local cafés or libraries – warm and cozy spaces where people enjoy coming together.

Our network includes around 80 active volunteers who have completed Peaasi.ee’s Mental Health First Aid training and are ready to support and listen to their communities every month.

Since the end of last year, Peaasi.ee’s Mental Health Cafés have been open in eight Estonian cities, and several other communities have reached out to us, wishing to offer similar supportive opportunities in their areas. Over the past year, we have focused on ensuring that the cafés take place regularly, that the support we provide is of high quality, and that our volunteers are well cared for and supported.
For example, we organize monthly themed evenings and additional training sessions, post-café supervision meetings, and regular coordinator gatherings. In 2025, we opened a Mental Health Café for the first time at the Estonian Song and Dance Festival and have also brought café conversations to many other public events.

“The person found reassurance that they are not alone with their problem. We talked about how it’s okay to feel bad, depressed, or broken — because even hard days are part of life. The important thing is to have a plan for who they can talk to about it.”

“I felt deeply moved and grateful that the person shared such a truly difficult challenge — simply the challenge of living.”

To make conversations about mental health a natural part of life and to ensure that information about café days reaches as many people as possible, consistent awareness-raising and active communication are essential.

To keep the Mental Health Café network sustainable and to provide a safe and trustworthy environment where people can share their concerns, Peaasi.ee employs a part-time project manager and an assistant. The communications team and trainers also contribute their time. In addition, we print materials, cover transport when needed, promote our activities, use office space, and once a year bring all volunteers together for a training and appreciation day.

For 2026, we need a total of €20,000 to maintain our existing support through the Mental Health Cafés, develop our activities, and expand into two to three new cities, reaching even more people across Estonia.
