How does your donation help?
I am a little miracle… that’s what they call me. The beginning of my life was difficult — my mommy struggled with addiction, which made her life hard and left its mark on me too. My tiny body needs special care and nourishment. Right now, my mommy isn’t able to take care of me, so I came straight from the maternity hospital into a crisis foster family. Today, I’m already two months old. I live with a loving family who holds me gently and does everything they can to help me feel better and get healthier. I don’t sleep well yet. My sleep is restless; I often wake up at night, cry, and don’t yet know how to calm down, even though I really want to. Sometimes I just feel so uncomfortable, but I can’t explain it. That’s when my caregivers are there for me — they hold me in their arms, stroke me gently, and whisper comforting words. They’re tired… but they never leave me alone. We also visit doctors, because they help me grow strong and try to find out why my tummy hurts so often. Sometimes there are lots of beeping sounds and unfamiliar faces, but my foster family always holds my hand and speaks to me in a soft, calm voice. That comforts me. The local municipality supports us as much as they can, but the needs are greater than the resources available. We could use a bit of help — so that a kind nanny could come for a few hours, allowing my family to rest and regain their strength. Not just so they can care for and love me, but also so they can be by my side on those nights when something unknown wakes me, to hold my hand in the doctor’s office, and to whisper gently that everything is going to be okay.Articles
