How does your donation help?

Every day, schools and kindergartens need to find substitute teachers—whether due to staff illness, training days, vacations, project work, or other reasons. School and kindergarten leaders often face significant challenges: finding substitute teachers is time-consuming, and qualified people can be difficult to locate. Today, the shortage of teachers is a societal issue; in some cases, schools have been unable to find a subject teacher at all. Through the Substitute Teachers Program, schools can quickly find replacement teachers when needed.

Through our program, more than 101,684 teaching hours have been substituted across over 450 schools and kindergartens, and 171 substitute teachers have gone on to become full-time teachers in schools. The Ministry of Education and Research has chosen us as a strategic partner in supporting the transition to Estonian-medium education—meaning that when a teacher working with non-Estonian-speaking students is ill or away on training, ASÕP provides the necessary substitute teachers. We genuinely care that no student falls behind in their learning.

???? Õpiruum – Support and Tools for Every Lesson

To ensure that every classroom has a competent and confident substitute teacher, we are developing the Õpiruum, a modern online learning environment within our information system. In the Õpiruum, substitute teachers can improve their skills, watch video trainings, and access a wide range of teaching materials. The Õpiruum provides practical guidance and methods for navigating various situations—whether working with multilingual students, children with special educational needs, or complex group dynamics.

Your support helps us build an Õpiruum that allows every substitute teacher to prepare for lessons confidently, creatively, and professionally—so that every child can learn in a supportive and safe environment.

Donations will be used to raise awareness, provide training, and strengthen the support network for schools and teachers. The work of substitute teachers eases the pressure in educational institutions and, most importantly, ensures that every lesson is meaningful and enriching for students.
